چکیده
We compare the usefulness of the paradigms of radius 1 and radius 1=2 reversible cellular automata. Although the two techniques are equivalent, it is seen that the radius 1=2 paradigm leads to clearer theory, a combinatorial model with good explicit constructions and possibly to a better intuition. The results include related construction methods for both paradigms, in the radius 1=2 case an exhaustive enumeration is possible.

On the Parity Problem in One-Dimensional Cellular Automata
We consider the parity problem in one-dimensional, binary, circular cellular automata: if the initial configuration contains an odd number of 1s, the lattice should converge to all 1s; otherwise, it should converge to all 0s. It is easy to see that the problem is ill-defined for even-sized lattices (which, by definition, would never be able to converge to 1). We then consider only odd lattices....
متن کاملOperads of cellular automata and little n - cubes October 25
We demonstrate how to organize 1-dimensional cellular automata into an operad of spaces. The nth term C(k) is the space of radius r = k − 1 automata. The operad composition operation involves both automata composition and shifting of domain. Pointwise operations such as addition of automata become important when we look at the structure of the individual terms in the operad, the spaces of autom...
متن کاملOn Universality of Radius 1/2 Number-Conserving Cellular Automata
A number-conserving cellular automaton (NCCA) is a cellular automaton whose states are integers and whose transition function keeps the sum of all cells constant throughout its evolution. It can be seen as a kind of modeling of the physical conservation laws of mass or energy. In this paper we show a construction method of radius 1/2 NCCAs. The local transition function is expressed via a singl...
متن کاملNew Directions In Cellular Automata
We Propose A Novel Automaton Model which uses Arithmetic Operations as the Evolving Rules, each cell has the states of the Natural Numbers k = (N), a radius of r = 1 2 and operates on an arbitrary input size. The Automaton reads an Arithmetic Expression as an input and outputs another Arithmetic Expression. In Addition, we simulate a variety of One Dimensional Cellular Automata Structures with ...
متن کاملConstructibility of speed one signal on cellular automata
This paper studies the capabilities of one dimensional, neighborhood of radius one cellular automata to construct speed one signals. We de/ne the notions of constructibility, consistent constructibility and preserving complexity consistent constructibility. Our main results are the following. • There exists a one dimensional neighborhood of radius one cellular automaton with four states which p...
